Boys State: No report. Dave Turley was not present.

Scholarship: Service Officer, Nick Sooy, had no update.

Motorcycle Rally: Date for the rally in Woodland Park is 23 August. The Post has been requested to Post the colors at the opening ceremonies at Kavanaugh Field, behind the Vectra Bank 0900 that day. The Post will also assist the VFW with the posting of the flags in Lion’s Park. The Post’s only other participation will b e the manning of a booth. Patriotic pins and bumper stickers will be offered for a Donation. Membership forms will also be available.

Post Fun Shoot: Six personnel were present with Nick Sooy winning the competition. It was decided to forego the breakfast during warmer weather as it becomes too hot during the shoot. The next date will be set at the next Executive Committee meeting.

Garage Sale: Bob Mericle has received little feedback from the membership to date and sensed a lack of enthusiasm for another major Post event. A motion was made to “shelve/table” the garage sale for a later date. The motion was passed and seconded.

Veteran’s Day: Veteran’s day (Nov 11) this year falls on a Tuesday. It was discussed to hold the annual dinner that evening, the prior Saturday, or Sunday. The importance of the day itself was mentioned and decided to be more important/symbolic. It was then decided to have the dinner in the evening of that day at the Crystola Roadhouse and that a committee was needed to lead the event. The need to also publicize the vent early was also brought up. More information will be forthcoming after the next Executive Committee meeting

            Other Old Business:

Cruise Above the Clouds: A date was needed to inform the membership. This is also another important fund raiser for the post and participation is needed. Kirby has lead for planning and information.

4. SERVICE OFFICER: Nick attended the meeting via “teleconference” and made the other members jealous. Nick had no new information.

5. POST ADJUTANT: The post had received 23 membership renewals from the last meeting. The Adjutant also had received the 2009 membership cards and had begun to send them out with the membership renewals.

6. POST CHAPLAIN: No report.

7. NEW BUSINESS:

Post BBQ and Campout: Nick Sooy proposed a Post Family BBQ/Tailgate at the Lost Dutchman campground in Divide. Cost estimate would be for $96.00 to reserve the fire pit/grill area. The Post would pay for burgers/hotdogs/brats. Members can use the RV hookups, or tent lots if they choose to overnight. Proposed dates are the 20th or 27th of September. Dates are contingent on other major Post supported events.

CO State Gaming License: The current dates and locations proposed by the State Gaming Commission are unsuitable for participation. Training sessions are about 3 hours in length. Nick is looking at dates in late August. More information to follow.

Correspondence: Correspondence was briefed and circulated to the membership. A post newsletter/events flyer is needed to go out via electrons and “snail mail” to inform the membership of upcoming events as participation centers around the same few members.

7. GOOD OF THE LEGION: Nothing Noted
